The AGI, formed in 1958, as the Federation of Ghana Industries is a non-profit, voluntary business association with more than 1500 members from the private and public sectors.

Membership is open to all registered companies in Ghana that are engaged in industrial activity.

AGI members are in manufacturing and Support Services Industries, such as Transport, Construction, Utilities, Information Technology (IT), and Telecommunication, Banking and Advertising. The main objectives of AGI are:
  • To provide a central organisation for the promotion of the interest of the industry in Ghana;
  • To study, support or oppose legislative or other measures affecting industry in Ghana;
  • To consider all questions connected with industries operating in Ghana, and to present the views and suggestions of industry to government.
  • Deliver quality services to member companies, particularly small and medium scale enterprises to bring about improvement in their performance.
The Association of Ghana Industries offers the following services:
  • Policy Advocacy and Advisory Services;
  • Market Development/Market Clinic;
  • Industrial Sub-contracting;
  • Management Training;
  • Business Development;
  • Export Market Promotion;
  • Information Gathering Analysis and Dissemination;
  • Media Planning and Events Management;
  • Networking.
The Council conducts the business of the Association while the day-to-day activities are handled by the Secretariat under the direction of the Executive Director.

The Ghana National Chamber of Commerce & Industry is without doubt, one of the leading business support service in Ghana. The chamber is an independent organisation serving and promoting the commercial and industrial interest of small and large companies in Ghana.

The chamber in its present form was established on the 8th November 1961 under an Act of Parliament (Executive Instrument No. 196) following the amalgamation of the then four existing Chambers of Commerce. These were the Accra and Eastern Province Chambers of Commerce, Kumasi Chamber of Commerce, Sekondi/Takoradi Chamber of Commerce that grouped expatriate firms and the Ghana Chamber of Commerce, which represented indigenous Ghanaian firms. The executive instrument was amended by LI. No. 6121 of 1968 to streamline some of the internal structures of the Chamber.

The governing body of the Chamber is the Central Council while the day-to-day administration of the Chamber rests with the Central Executive Committee. Membership of the Chamber is open to any registered business establishment in Ghana.

The chamber serves the local business community with three core activities that are its founding principles.

Policy, lobbying and representation
The Ghana National Chamber of Commerce & Industry is the voice of the business community within Ghana. We actively lobby issues locally, nationally and internationally.

Networking and business development
The Chamber provides its Members with opportunities to network on a regular basis and to provide a unique platform for national business development

Business Support services
The Chamber offers its members a vast number of business support services that range from the local services such as start-up support, contracts and tender information, training, translation support, export market information and documentation.

The Ghana Employers Association was formed in 1959 as a National Employers’ Organization, to consolidate employers into a joint body to represent and promote their dealings with organised labour and government, promote good working relation between employers and their employees, and build human resource and management capacity of the enterprises. Membership of the association is open to individual employers in both private and the public sectors who employ five or more people in any activity in Ghana. The broad objectives of the Association include the following:
  1. To watch over and keep members informed on the operation of existing laws and practices, the activities of Government and Government Committees and all legislative proposals, which may affect or tend to affect the interest of employers;
  2. To provide machinery for nominating suitable employer representatives to committees or delegations as and when considered desirable;
  3. To provide a forum for consultation, exchange of information, ideas and experiences among employers on all matters related to their operations;
  4. To cooperate with any organization of Employers internationally or otherwise, or become a member or associate thereof, whose main objective are similar to those of the Association;
  5. To collect, collate, share and disseminate such statistical data and other information relevant to the development of industrial business and the economy;
  6. To assist member in negotiating collective agreements and to represent employers at conciliation and arbitration, where necessary.
  1. To coordinate the activities of members and liase between them and the Government and organised labour, and to influence policy measures related to employment, labour and business in general;
  2. To represent, defend and promote employers’ interest and represent their views to Government and other bodies.

FAGE is a private, non-governmental organisation of Ghanaian exporters and exporter associations. Our membership comprises of over 2,500 exporting firms in a range of sectors, including agriculture, seafood, crafts, timber, textiles, minerals, and industrial materials.

FAGE’s primary goal is to be the premier provider of technical and information services to facilitate transactions between Ghanaian firms and their global partners.

The Federation of Associations of Ghanaian Exporters (FAGE) was established on 15th April 1992, as a Private Company Limited by Guarantee under the Companies Code (1963), Act 179 of Ghana. The Federation is made up of thirteen (13) product associations grouped into six (6) categories of Food Crops, Fisheries, Agriculture, Forest Products, Handicrafts and Metals.

The objectives of FAGE include the following, among others:

  • To represent the interest of its members and to seek to improve the environment to facilitate exports
  • To promote the expansion and diversification of Ghanaian exports;
  • To consider all issues concerning exports and to represent and articulate views and opinions, make suggestions and recommendations to government, other agencies and foreign entities;
  • To offer several specialized services to it members and exporting entities that will facilitate and promote exports and improve the performance and welfare of product associations and their members. Such services include:
    • Export and other types of insurance and guarantees;
    • Establishment and maintenance of standards;
    • Secure and exchange information on trade regulations, tariffs, fiscal charges and other marketing techniques and business practices;
    • Documentation services, costing and the securing of funding for export production and marketing.
  • To identify the training needs of small-scale businesses and conduct appropriate training for their entrepreneurs;

Ghana Association of Bankers (GAB)

The Ghana Association of Bankers (GAB) was formed on May 29, 1980 as the National Organization of Banks in Ghana.

It adopted as its objectives, the following

  • To create avenues for making representations to appropriate institutions and bodies of the State to consider the views of members of the Ghana Association of Bankers (Field Operators of the Banking System) on issues pertaining to economic, fiscal monetary and other matters as they affect the performance of the financial system;
  • In a rapidly changing industry, to give practical expression to the Banking industry’s views on new regulatory legislative initiatives at the out set and arising concerns, both general and technical, arising from such initiatives;
  • To carry out research, analysis and dissemination of reports on issues affecting the banking industry’s performance and growth;
  • We intend to achieve this goal by publication of a quarterly Ghana Association of Bankers’ Newsletter, an Annual Journal and by the circulation of member banks’ Newsletters and other communications;
  • To enhance industry performance especially in the area of credits by pursuing to fruition the establishment of a credit reference agent;
  • To participate and contribute meaningfully to programmes and activities of the West African Bankers’ Association and the proposed West African Monetary Institute.
The Association presently has on its membership, all banks operating in Ghana. The Governor of Bank of Ghana (represented by the Second Deputy Governor) and the President of the Association Of Rural Banks are Associate members of the Council.

Ghana Chamber of Mines (GCM)

The Ghana Chamber of Mines is the apex mineral industry association in Ghana. The Chamber represents the collective interest of companies involved in mining exploration, production and processing in Ghana. Its activities are entirely funded by its member companies, which produce over 90% of the nation’s mineral output.

The Chamber has represented the industry’s interest for almost 72 years with the mission of building a dynamic private sector association, professionally managed to serve and harmonize the interest of its stakeholders. One of the functions of the Chamber is to promote employment in the industry by cooperating with the government to create the enabling environment for increased mining investment. This involves a number of challenges such as regulatory matters, monitoring, proactive community relations, as well as the responsible and diligent management of the environment. As part of its role in promoting mining, the Chamber is networking in Africa, Particularly the sub-region to establish international collaboration and uniformity in policies.

Key Functions:
  • Advice and support on industry issues, including mining and sustainable development, energy and alternative livelihood projects;
  • Organize workshops and seminar in areas of national and industry interest, including safety, environment, capacity utilization and community relations;
  • Position Ghana as the mining hub of West Africa;
  • Research, development and adoption of environmental mining practices in Ghana;
  • Generate, collate and communicate statistical information on mining in Ghana.
